El Roi [el-roy] – The God Who Sees Me

Meaning: God who sees the overlooked or hurting.


Elohim [eh-low-heem] – God, Mighty Creator

Meaning: The all-powerful Creator. Elohim emphasizes God’s majesty and creative power. Most Hebrew translations use this name of God, but often our English translations use “God” or “Lord” instead of Elohim.


El Shaddai [shad-eye] – God Almighty

Meaning: The All-Sufficient One. This name emphasizes God’s ultimate power and sufficiency.


El Elyon [el-lee-ohn] – God Most High

Meaning: He who is supreme, exalted above all gods and powers.


El Olam [oh-lahm] – The Everlasting God

Meaning: God of eternity, without beginning or end.


Yahweh [yah-weh] – The Lord, “I AM WHO I AM”

Meaning: The covenant name of God, signifying His eternal, self-existent nature.


Yahweh Jireh [jai-rah] – The Lord Will Provide

Meaning: God is faithful to provide for His people.


Yahweh Rapha [rah-fah] – The Lord Who Heals

Meaning: God as healer of physical and spiritual needs.


Yahweh Ra’ah [rah-ah] – The Lord is My Shepherd

Meaning: God is protector, provider, and guide.


Yahweh Shalom [shah-lohm] – The Lord is Peace

Meaning: God Himself is peace and wholeness.


These names remind us that God wants to be in a personal relationship with us, not distant. Each name reveals His character and invites us to trust Him more deeply in our lives.

Note: In the Bible, God’s personal covenant name is written as YHWH (four Hebrew letters). Since ancient Hebrew did not include written vowels, the exact pronunciation of YHWH was uncertain. Over time, “Jehovah” became the Latinized-English version, while “Yahweh” is considered closer to the original Hebrew. That’s why you may see both “Jehovah” and “Yahweh” used in different Bibles, songs, and within this list.
