Samaritan’s Purse is responding in five locations across four states after Hurricane Helene devastated parts of the Southeast. Two of these locations are in Western North Carolina: Boone and Asheville. If you'd like to volunteer in either of these hard-hit areas, click here. 

Mobile Meals will reopen Tuesday, October 1. While some roads and
neighborhoods are still impassable, they are doing their best to reach as many recipients as possible throughout the county.

If you can deliver a route, please come to their office at 419 E. Main Street between 9-11 AM. They will have route sheets and meals ready for you. If you can bring a cooler to carry meals, that’s great. If not, come anyway. Please plan to pick up meals at the back dock since their main driveway off East Main Street is blocked. Even if you’ve never delivered before, your help is welcome!

United Way is calling on compassionate individuals to help with recovery efforts. Whether it's distributing supplies, assisting with cleanup, or providing support to those affected, every contribution makes a difference.

Volunteer Opportunity: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:30-4:45 PM. Volunteers meet inner-city children where they are to provide crafts, music, devotions, snacks and more.

Donation Needs: Hygiene bags - Each bag needs to include 6 FULL-SIZE hygiene items including: deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, body lotion, wash cloth, and a bar of soap. There must be one item each, and there can be no substitutions. Please place into a 1-gallon size Ziploc bag. Please no travel size!

Deadline: October 26, 2024. However many bags you are able to bless these children with as a small group or individual with be a huge blessing to each child or teen who receives one. Donations can be taken to the His Storehouse Donation Box in the Concourse at Central Campus. Contact the Missions Team with any questions.

Donation Needs: Fresh produce (bagged salad mix, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, apples), breakfast cereal, shelf-stable milk and canned chicken with the pop-top

Volunteer Needs: 

• There is always a need to train new people to serve at the ministry or pickup food. Weekday mornings are the most needed. 
• The ministry needs someone with an enclosed truck or flatbed trailer who could go to Cowpens and pick up the government commodity food. There is a need to load it into the truck or trailer with a forklift (it comes on pallets), bring it back to Helping Hands and unload it by hand one case at a time. Heavy lifting ability would be a huge plus.
