The team will work alongside Compassion International in the Dominican Republic. This trip is for adults 18 and older, however 16-17-year-olds may participate if accompanied by a parent. The Dominican Republic is home to impoverished communities that struggle with gang activity and unsafe water. Compassion-assisted children experience these realities daily. At their Compassion student centers, young people participate in social clubs built around interests like sports, arts and reading as well as receive vocational training for skills including technology, welding and carpentry. At the centers, youth discover their identity and purpose through Jesus Christ and are drawn to the positive atmosphere of the center rather than the negative influence of gangs.
