Mission Statement

The Biblical Counseling Ministry at Church at The Mill exists to care for individuals, couples, and families who are hurting and struggling by applying the truth of God’s word.

We also exist to equip future counselors in Biblical Counseling so they can care for and disciple others.

Our Process

Our goal in counseling is to see God glorified as we walk with people through life’s struggles and see them restored to all that God intended them to be. We live in a fallen world full of sin and sinners. There is intense pain and profound trouble all around us. Thankfully, God is able to restore the wounded and renew our hope through the Holy Spirit working on our behalf. There is no person beyond His redemption and grace. To accomplish this change, we use Scripture because we believe that God’s Word provides the only authoritative guide for what we are to believe and how we are to live. We want to help our counselees know, understand and apply the Gospel to their everyday lives and problems.

If you or a loved one is struggling, we are here and happy to help. We are certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) https://biblicalcounseling.com/ and include pastors, ministry leaders, and staff counselors. Our desire is to help you change in a way that honors Christ. We wish we could help every person who is hurting and struggling with a problem, but at this time our services are limited to Church at The Mill members and regular attendees.

Who We Are

We are a team of committed Christian counselors at Church at The Mill who volunteer to provide free Biblical Counseling to those in need. We offer this service to our members and regular attendees. We are not Licensed Counselors, Psychiatrists or Psychologists. We are a Church-based counseling ministry. While we have not chosen to pursue licensure, our counselors are formally trained; many are certified or pursuing certification, while others hold various degrees in ministry and counseling. Because we are not licensed by the State, we have the freedom to counsel with a Christian worldview.

What to Expect

Expect to Focus On Scripture

Isaiah 9:6 says,  "...and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, ..." We don't place confidence in a human counselor, a counseling center, or a program. We place our hope in a Savior, the Christ, the Wonderful Counselor. Ultimately, all faithful Christian counseling points to the person and work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, the source of our counseling will be Scripture.

Expect to Pray

Expect to go to the Lord in prayer before, during, and after your sessions. (Col. 1:9-11).

Expect Work

Your counselor will provide homework for you to complete prior to your next session. Counseling is not a passive activity. Thoughtful work outside of your scheduled appointments with your counselor is typically needed to find lasting freedom and healing from any specific challenge.

Expect to Meet Regularly

Each counselor has different preferences and each counselor will have different needs, however, you should respect the schedule and appointments your counselor sets.
